🎂 This Vanilla Buttercream Frosting is wonderfully easy to make and delivers a creamy, smooth texture perfect for any cake or cupcake.
🍰 It’s versatile for every occasion, balancing sweetness and vanilla flavor beautifully to enhance your baked treats.

  • Total Time: 40 minutes
  • Yield: Enough to frost a 9-inch cake or 24 cupcakes

Ingredients

– 1 cup (16 tablespoons; 226g) unsalted butter, softened – This gives the base its rich, creamy feel.

– 4 to 5 cups (480-600g) confectioners’ sugar – Sweetens and helps thicken the icing just right.

– 1/4 cup (60ml) heavy cream, half-and-half, or whole milk, at room temperature – Adds the moisture for easy spreading.

– 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract – Brings in a warm, inviting flavor.

– Salt, to taste – Just a bit to balance the sweetness and make everything pop.

Instructions

1-Start by softening the unsalted butter to room temperature so it mixes smoothly.

2-Using a mixer, beat the butter on medium speed for about 2 minutes until it’s creamy and light.

3-Gradually add 4 1/2 cups of confectioners’ sugar, along with 1/4 cup of heavy cream and 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract. Mix on low speed for 30 seconds, then crank it up to medium-high for 2 more minutes.

4-Taste it and add about 1/8 teaspoon of salt if it’s too sweet, which helps balance things out nicely.

5-If the icing feels too thin, mix in up to 1/2 cup more confectioners’ sugar. If it’s too thick, add heavy cream one tablespoon at a time until it’s just right.

6-Once it’s mixed, use it right away or cover and pop it in the fridge for up to one week. If you freeze it, it keeps for three months just thaw and beat it again with a splash of cream or milk to get it smooth.
