Ingredients
– 1 cup all-purpose flour
– 1 teaspoon baking powder
– 1/4 teaspoon salt
– 2 tablespoons sugar
– 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
– 1/2 cup milk
– 1 large egg
– 1 medium Granny Smith apple, peeled and chopped (about 150 grams)
– Oil for frying (about 2 cups or enough for deep frying)
– 1 cup powdered sugar
– 1 tablespoon milk for glaze
– 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
1-Heat oil in a large frying pan over medium heat to ensure it’s ready for frying.
2-In a medium bowl, whisk together 1 cup all-purpose flour, 1 teaspoon baking powder, 1/4 teaspoon salt, 2 tablespoons sugar, and 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon until well blended.
3-In another bowl, whisk 1/2 cup milk and 1 large egg until combined.
4-Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and mix until blended, but do not overmix to keep the batter light.
5-Stir in the chopped Granny Smith apple to add that fresh crunch.
6-Drop spoonfuls of batter carefully into the hot oil and fry until golden brown on both sides, about 2-3 minutes per side.
7-Use a slotted spoon to remove fritters from oil and drain them on paper towels to get rid of excess oil.
8-To make the glaze, mix 1 cup powdered sugar, 1 tablespoon milk, and 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract until smooth.
9-Dip the warm fritters into the glaze and place them on a parchment-lined surface to set.
